I’ve been spending a lot of time on mobile due to medical reasons, and I can’t seem to find a straight answer as to which mobile browser is best; I use FF on my PC and currently on mobile as well, but I’m seeing people call Bromite better, and others recommend Mull or Fennec. I (unfortunately) haven’t been able to jailbreak my phone or anything out of fear of bricking my sole means of emergency contact, so I have a Galaxy S10 with as many bloatware features disabled as possible, but not any OS installed or anything, as much as I’d love to. I’m not as tech savvy as I’d like to be.
Apologies for the wall of text. I just really want to know what to use.

Mull + ublock on andvanced mode ftw. Mull is awesome, even if you need to change sometimes a thing or two from about:config (e.g. ocsp.require sadly broke a lot of websites), but the real feature is the ublock addon in advanced mode: if you learn how to use it (not hard, you can check the wiki on the official GitHub page or any guide on the internet) then you will have complete control on your traffic and a great protection against tracking and security issues. Tor is good too for everyday browsing, just use another browser for things that need an account
Mull on Android, Librewolf on desktop.
If you can modify and tweak yourself, hardened Firefox is superior in the long term.
Bromite is chromium based and has site isolation wheras mull doesn’t have process isolation. Both are hardened browsers and are very good for privacy. If your threat model requires site isolation go for bromite but if you don’t need it, you can go for mull. I think mull is enough for my threat model and I really like its ad and tracker blocking and addon capabilities. You can add any addon with a customized addon collection.
Btw on android it’s called rooting not jailbraking. I highly advise against rooting your android as this can introduce security risks. Indtalling another os like grapheneos does not requiere root access.

Firefox has Tor Project features like First Party Isolation and anti fingerprinting which is unmatched by any Google Chrome or Blink/WebKit variants. Therefore, for site isolation, one must choose Firefox. Bromite and Google Chrome have lots of issues like WebRTC leaks.
Firefox doesn’t have per-site process isolation. That info is from the dev of mull.

WebRTC is obviously only a problem if you use it. I think I’ve never used WebRTC in an android browser.

As an alternative to Bromite there is Kiwi which is a good balance between privacy and usability.

I use FF on mobile, but recently switched to Librewolf on the desktop. I don’t know the others and will take a look.
Fennec is just like Firefox, only for mobile phones. LibreWolf is a privacy-oriented hardened fork of Firefox. Mull is practically the same as LibreWolf, only for mobile phones. It is a privacy-oriented hardened fork of Fennec. You can get the same results as Mull or LibreWolf with Fennec or Firefox, if you adjust the Fennec or Firefox settings accordingly. I usually say that if you use LbreWolf, you should use Mull on mobile phones.
Bromite is a Chromium-based browser which, in my opinion, means unusable on mobile phones. It lacks many features and (as I feel it) the UX is terrible from the usability perspective. However, I would say that Bromite is the closest you can get to Ungoogled Chromium on mobile phones. Privacy-wise, Bromite browser should be a good choice if you want/need Chromium-based browser. However, there are some perks of using Bromite one might find pretty useful. For example, see @beta_tester@lemmy.ml’s comment here.

I would say this cannot be a step in a wrong direction. And if you feel adventurous, you might want to start exploring how your browser can be hardened to ensure better privacy. Or you can install pre-hardened forks of Fennec. The beauty in this is that you actually have the choice. Many proprietary browsers do not give you that. Have fun and enjoy.

In addition to all the good recommendations, what’s about Tor browser for both desktop and mobile? Browsers aside, for mobile I’d also suggest using Orbot and maybe also NetGuard from f-droid.
DuckDuckGo has privacy already setup, vs Fennec/Firefox can do the same but you need to do your own research to know what Add Ons will make them as good as DuckDuckGo. Also keep in mind that Fennec is Open Source which is a good place to start. The do some searches to see what AddOns will that it up to DuckDuckGo level. Plus DuckDuckGo is an AddOn fro Fennec and that might bring it all together. I use Fennec and FireFox because I love the way it handles passwords and everything can be Synced between Fennec for Android and FireFox for PC. If your serious about privacy get free or premium ProtonMail which has Calendar, Contacts, Drive Beta, all encrypted, plus free or premium ProtonVPN, also free and open source encrypted messaging is Silence, built with same security as Signal but without all the silly stuff that Signal is going to. Also another Open Source on droid to replace android, is Simple Mobile which has a suite of de- googled apps such as, well, everything basic phone function. Camera, notes, photo editor, their website highlights all their de-googled apps.
Unfortunately Firfox’s Gecko Engine is less secure than chromium, probably because of Google controlling Android. If you really want to use Gecko go with Mull if not go with Bromite
