My HP Pavillion is built to make switching to Linux impossible; what now?
So, my PC is built with RST literally unable to be disabled. (I've tried, trust me. I've followed every tutorial online and reply on my help posts to no avail. I'm pretty sure it's impossible.) I currently don't have the funds, nor any reason, to buy a new PC. It still works just fine, but Windows is becoming increasingly pushy about switching to 11. I really wanted to switch to Mint, but seeing as how it's apparently impossible, I'm not sure what to do. Is there anything that can be done physically inside the PC to fix the "untouchable RST" issue? I'm not a massive techie, and I'm worried about ruining my PC since, like I said before, I don't have the money to get a new one, but if there's a fairly safe/easy way to fix this, if any way exists at all, does anybody know? Apologies for my ignorance. I'd like to learn more about PCs and Linux, too, so I'm hoping this will explain things as well, even if I don't fully grasp it yet.

A fixed fork of Barinsta? (Or an alternative?)
I adore Barinsta, but lately when I've used it, I get rate limited and have to change my password and all that jazz. I've had to uninstall it because of this. I hate Instagram, but everyone (friends and artists) use it, and I want to keep up with them. Has anyone made a fork of it yet without the rate limiting issue, or is that beyond control? Additionally, are there any good alternatives to it? I'd prefer one where I can login, since I have friends I want to interact with, but if the rate limiting thing impacts all apps that have login, I guess I can use one without login.

Is Carrd private? If not, are there good alternatives?
I'm assuming it's not, since it's closed source, but I'm not sure. I want to make a small site with little lists on it. Not a full-fledged website like Neocities; just a few small pages. Is there anything of that sort that's a better alternative? Apologies for the stupid question.

Unsure of how to disable RST.
Running Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx. I'm trying to switch to Mint (specifically Cinnamon), and all is working well; I've got the flash drive and everything, and can boot into it, but I can't install it. It says I need to disable RST first. Simple enough, it seemed. I looked it up and people said it could be done from the UEFI menu, so I checked there, and there was no sign of any options to disable RST. I'm not very tech savvy, so needless to say, my head was spinning when I looked up answers and found out there's a bunch of stuff involving BIOS and SATA and stuff (there's no option to do the AHCI stuff in BIOS that I read about, either) and I'm really stressed. I was so sure this would be a lot easier. (I'd been informed it would be, too.) What's going on? Why can't I disable RST? Why are there so many complicated steps to be able to disable it? Sorry if this is stupid, I was just really excited to finally switch to Mint, and now I'm overwhelmed with a bunch of stuff I don't understand, nor can I find the solutions to that I'm told should be there. TL;DR I'm not tech savvy and I went into this with instructions that it would be easier.

No option to boot Linux
I'm making the switch from Windows 10 to Linux (specifically Mint/Cinnamon) and using [this tutorial](https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-make-the-switch-from-windows-to-linux) to do so. It's going swimmingly, but when I reboot my PC... it's just the normal Windows login screen. I turned off fast startup, as I read it could cause this issue, but no dice. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is there a step I need to take? The USB flash drive is all set up; do I need to do anything in it first before rebooting?

What e-mail client(s) do you recommend?
I'm on a Galaxy S10, and I really want a more privacy-respecting app than the included one. I tried FairEmail, and while it seems nice, it was extremely overwhelming and cluttered for me. Is there anything of similar quality that's simpler to use interface-wise?

Ahhh, that must be what people meant; the Microsoft thing.

I use the free personal plan myself.

Awesome! I’ll have to join ASAP. Fluffychat is my Matrix client of choice.

…Now, if only I had friends who use Matrix. 🙃

What do you mean by “keep them hostage”? Why would they do that?

It was mainly just passing gossip about them being affiliated with Google or something. I couldn’t find anything on the topic, and I didn’t necessarily believe the claims. I just thought I’d ask here just in case.

Is Bitwarden a good password manager?
I use it currently, but I've seen a few people say it's bad for privacy or something? Is this true? If so, what alternatives do you suggest?

Ohhh! Thank you so much! I missed that somehow.

Are Mastodon and Friendica compatible/is it redundant to use both? Or are they two different things? I keep getting mixed responses.

I’m heading to bed now, but I had a decent day; I’ve been primarily bedridden, and today I finally managed to take a small trip to the grocery store. It’s not a lot, but it was something, and it felt good.

I’ve never seen anyone banned for eating meat, so unless you were in an explicitly vegan community or something, I have no idea what you’re going on about there. (And if that were the case… why talk about how you eat meat in a vegan community?)

Is it redundant to join Mastodon, Misskey, and Pleroma?
I'm admittedly quite an amateur and don't have the best understanding of the fediverse; I have a Mastodon account and a Misskey account, and was planning on making a Pleroma account as well. However, it seems like they're all connected; was it redundant to join Mastodon and Misskey? And in that case, should I not make a Pleroma? Or is there any benefit to having one of each?

FF, Bromite, Mull, or Fennec?
I've been spending a lot of time on mobile due to medical reasons, and I can't seem to find a straight answer as to which mobile browser is best; I use FF on my PC and currently on mobile as well, but I'm seeing people call Bromite better, and others recommend Mull or Fennec. I (unfortunately) haven't been able to jailbreak my phone or anything out of fear of bricking my sole means of emergency contact, so I have a Galaxy S10 with as many bloatware features disabled as possible, but not any OS installed or anything, as much as I'd love to. I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be. Apologies for the wall of text. I just really want to know what to use.

Alternative to Dropbox Paper?
I really need something better to use, and all the alternative searches suggest Google Docs, which is an obvious no.
