Create community and moderate on another instance

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a new community on another lemmy instance using my lemmy.ml account or do I have to necessarily create a new user on the new instance? …

These links take the form of <lemmy instance>/comment/<comment number>; but the links don’t include the post number, so they just direct to a 404. …

Why hide the post button if you're not subscribed?

On a community’s page there is no post button if you’re not subscribed, only a subscribe button which appears a post button. At first I thought it was a rule you had to be subscribed to post in a community, but after I learned that you can post on any community by going to Create Post instead and se…

Leveling up in the Fediverse

Before I met my boyfriend (seahorse) I hadn’t heard of Lemmy or the word Fediverse. I didn’t know there was this world of federated servers people could host independently that communicate with each other. I am by far not a techy. He told me he ran an instance. I’ve thought about it, something about managing my time between having fun and doing work. If i did create an social environment with a set of rules that strictly focuses on developing skills, and, that is, it could be any skills as long as the community is focused. …

Are trending communities really trending?

Whenever I click on a trending community, I see that there is hardly anything in there. Is the trending community algorithm working right?..

I wish I could type in a community to post to; instead of using the drop-down menu.

The drop-down menu, when selecting a community to post to, tends to be unreliable; the community I want to post to won’t always appear. …
