Some bosses are taking action amid claims sites such as Airbnb are pricing workers out of housing

Disgraceful that you aren’t getting a cut, yeah

We’re on a steady track back to feudalism where a Lord owns both the land and all the people that live on the land.

Worse because people will actually thank their bosses now for this. It’s sad how much Stockholm syndrome people have.

“You are not a capitalist, you are a slave with Stockholm syndrome.”

Back to company towns again, I guess?

I recall Tesco planning one of those out a decade ago. Local opposition stopped it, but I’m sure they’re ready for another try by now.

I saw one being planned near Vegas a few years ago. I think it was crypto based, so I’m sure it’s been scrapped lol.

We’re definitely going back to company towns.

I do hate Airbnb but it’s probably not the root cause of this shit show.

It’s more of a symptom of the problem than the root cause. A system that places the needs of landlords above all others is the root.

I’d say the cause is uncontrolled capitalism that has made housing into a commodity that the average person can’t afford. I think the financial sector reliance on the housing market for growth has hurt the people who actually just want to live somewhere.

There’s also problems with land use due to racist zoning, many cycles of consolidation, influence of car companies, etc. We are overdue for land reforms.
