I’m honestly feeling bad about Estonians and Lithuanians. There are many very based people, but they literally turned up in the worst post-soviet state which are very close to Ukraine in the speed of nazification.
I’m lucky enough to live in a big city with good bike infrastructure, pedestrian paths and public transport, so I don’t have to use my car that much. I also eat pretty cheap, buy most of my clothes second hand for cheap and beers at a bar can be cheap as well. Got lucky with my new energy bill as well as my gf and I use just a tiny bit of energy. I notice the inflation a bit, but not the 9-10% mentioned here.
I see people on the daily that do, though. The middle class is being wiped out already and it will get worse.
I consider myself very lucky because I can walk to work every day (around 2km one way). Or aat least I used to walk before the pandemic. These days it’s just workin from the couch.
Inflation will get worse if this war continues. Russia is one of the largest producers of oil, natual gas, fertilizer and many metals. Ukraine and Russia together are huge grain producers. This will get worse as the real impact of the war starts to be felt.
Food security is going to become a real concern this summer and over the coming year. I am really worried for the global south and the poor in the west who won’t be able to afford the inflationary price hikes.
I would hate to be Estonian right about now 😬

Unsurprisingly, stupidity belt at the top.
