I find it more frustrating when I just start typing into vim because I forgot that it doesn’t default to insert mode.

I have the opposate problem. When I try to use another text editor or word processor find myself always just typing i at the begining of the document and just leaving it there.

I’m so lost when nano pops up.

first:
start recording a macro… then: type :q!

then: all hope is lost. time to pull the plug.

In fact exiting vim is easy, except when you hit C-x C-c then thing get hairy.
