They’re slow, and I don’t need them.

I’m gonna be honest, I may know how to manage Linux, servers, and the like, but I don’t know shit about coding actual applications. But that doesn’t mean I still don’t benefit from Linux’s open source nature. When an application doesn’t work, or I feel the need to change something, there’s always someone smarter than me who has a patch or a change that I can use.

Wallpapers on workspace thumbnails in GNOME 42?
When using GNOME, I really like using workspace thumbnails. But, I would like to add the desktop wallpaper instead of the gray background. I couldn't find anything in the settings, just perfection, or on any forums. How do you enable it?

There is absolutely no correlation.

You can still browse lemmy. Sadly, because of the browser you can’t login, but I am constantly checking up on Lemmy on my flip phone.

Alcatel Go Flip 4, reliable, fast, easy to use, Non-Android or IOS flip phone. It’s what I use, and it works great.

KaiOS, but I sync my todo list and music.

This isnt the Dissenter fork, it is a different fork called “Braver”.

They try to sow devision, by making everything so polarized they feed into peoples fear and make them hate each other.

He literally lied about pacman and then got mad that his system didn’t tell him he was using the wrong package manager. His first video was pretty alright, but every video after that it seems like he just has an unneeded hate boner for Linux and completely dismisses Luke who is having a great time with Linux.

It takes like 5 minutes to harden Firefox and 30 minutes to build librewolf from source.

Hardened Firefox + Searx, along with Noscript, Ublock Origin, and cookie autodelete. Mobile is the same thing but with Mobile Firefox.

Don’t. Tor is great for certain things, not all of the time. It will make you much easier to fingerprint than hardened Firefox without a VPN or Tor. It is best to only reserve Tor for your Darknet uses.

“Whether you need an old version of Ubuntu for your server, or you just would like to have a super stable desktop, Ubuntu ESM is a great option for you.”

It forgets that for beginners, the distro and the desktop may be one in the same. A beginner isn’t going to install a distro and manually install a new desktop. It makes more sense to reccomend a distro with the best implementation of whatever desktop would be best for them, like Fedora GNOME, Linux Mint, or Xubuntu.

I mean, Solus rolled their own and are doing fine. The problem was that Ubuntu was so focused on the server market that they completely abandoned the desktop and didn’t want to sink a bunch of development costs into Unity and Mir.

I was born in the early 2000’s and I absolutely adore trinity. I just wish more distros shipped it.

“Yeah, your computer will be completely unusable for 8 hours while we do something that takes the competition 15 minutes, but we’re not going to change anything” : ) - Microsoft

The great thing about freedom is that you can use whatever garbage software you want.

Wow, another Trinity desktop user, nice to see another in the wild.

I have the opposate problem. When I try to use another text editor or word processor find myself always just typing i at the begining of the document and just leaving it there.

What Unsubstantiated claims have I made about Manjaro?

Edit - Forgot that this was my main account, I am in fact the writer of the blog.

A DE is a collection of a bunch of apps. Its the shell, window manager and apps. These all can be made by different people, with different frameworks, appearance, and resource usage.

Solus. I love the community spirit and how helpful everyone is.

Protonmail for personal, danwin for blogging and Outlook (ew) for school.

It is 100% Free software. No non-free software is allowed, even the regular Linux kernel itself.

My only problem with Elementary is that the software store has so few apps.

Have you ever donated to open sourced software? If so, who did you donate too and why?
I personally donate to Solus, but I would like to see just how many people give their money to FOSS projects.

How can I force a terminal application to run in my preferred terminal emulator?
I run i3 and sometimes Openbox. I use the xfce4 terminal. However, when I use rofi to open up a terminal application like ranger, it always opens in Xterm, even though I don't have Xterm installed. I run OpenSUSE Leap btw.
