I’m a Navy veteran myself, and the amount of brainwashed useful idiots and just outright dangerous people I saw was staggering. Not just impressionable kids either, it’s usually the older guys and gals who you think would be smart enough to see through it.

I’ve met incels who think Dems are scared of guns and feminism is ruining everything, I’ve met a guy who was personally offended when the Pope came to the US and said “Hey maybe things aren’t that great here” back in 2016 or so, I’ve heard stories of old men who buy into the propaganda so utterly that they think every American war is a matter of “Good vs Evil.” Most recently, I knew an authoritarian bootlicker who was both a terrible sailor and a gun nut. So every time he came in late to work we assumed that he was getting one of his guns that he never shut up about and was getting ready to shoot up the office.

A lot of casual racism and sexism too, in fact it’s even encouraged. Every port call in a foreign country calls for you to treat the locals like a threat and cheating is rampant (but only a problem when it’s a woman that cheats, I noticed.)

Lately I've been thinking about how absolutely crazy America must look to the outside world.
We live in a country that is so bloodthirsty that it has not only been involved in wars around the world for 80-90% of it's existence, but there are mass shootings being perpetuated every week or so with no end in sight. We're so desperate to kill one another that it's not even safe to go a grocery store. But at the exact same time, the laws that allow this state of affairs to continue aren't used for their intended purpose. The 2nd Amendment is supposed to be for stopping the government from becoming tyrannical, but the ones who seem to champion it the most **are** the tyrants. Rights get taken away, protesters get brutalized but nothing ever really escalates like in other places. We all just decided to stop caring and move on within a week, mostly to keep our oppressors from clamping down even harder. Sometimes it feels like the U.S. is a land full of hostages. Where the few hold the power and their armies of well paid thugs are encouraged to crush any resistance.

You can really tell when the state department reaches out and tells a news company to fall in line with the new narrative. This shit is night and day.

I don’t really believe in that as a possibility.

Front page news right now is that Zelensky is scared that the West is “losing interest” in the war. What a fucking scumbag, we give him 10s of billions of dollars in military equipment and aid, let him appear at colleges and fucking award shows just to talk bout how important the war is, give him a platform to talk about mass shootings in America as if that’s any of his concern and he has the audacity to get mad that Ukraine isn’t the only thing in the news anymore.

I fully expect Ukraine to start launching missiles at Moscow to try and get the US invovled, because Zelensky and his Nazi pals are clearly desperate for the West to intervene. Granted we did create the situation but Z-man is an adult and can’t blame us for everything.

So about all these shootings...
Predictably, all the conspiracy nuts and conservatives are quick to assume that it's all a plot by some 3 letter agency complete with crisis actors and hundreds of people involved but also sworn to silence. Whenever I see Americans on the internet talking about how every mass shooting that gets in the news is "obviously" a false flag operation, I have to believe that this is what a dying society looks like: People who need to convince themselves that bad things simply don't happen naturally and it's all a plan by some impossibly omnipotent government force to make them into slaves. Do you guys think something similar?

They’ve been strangely silent these last few weeks.

Is it any wonder why people are leaving California?

Can’t imagine being a grown woman and referring to yourself and your co workers as “the squad”.

It’s just so terrifying to think about. You can invent a massacre, call it a genocide, then when the people being blamed try to get it fully investigated you just suspend them.

There are people who genuinely think Russia is out to kill every last Ukrainian man, woman and child for no reason aside from hate. And then when you tell them that the timeline makes no sense or that the corpses in the videos match the description of dissidents killed by Azov they treat you the same as a Holocaust denier.

I’d be foolish to say that the Russians are completely innocent in all this, but I knew shit was fishy when the UK and whoever else actively refused to investigate after the side that allegedly committed an atrocity asked them too.

The Pentagon is now denying that the US is sharing intelligence with Ukrainian Forces to target Russian Generals and warships.
What do you call someone who tells a warring nation targeting information for the purpose of killing or otherwise destroying an enemy force or structure? A combatant. I think someone important just realized that claiming we're helping Ukraine kill Russians means we just entered the war. So here comes the damage control. https://twitter.com/NewsHour/status/1522591770021933057[](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/u-s-provided-ukraine-with-intel-on-russian-warship-before-sinking-official-says)

Best case scenario is missing white woman syndrome where he was just so moved because he saw a little white girl putting her life at risk. But more likely he wanted to get himself a child bride.

Some asshole. Kyle is a teenager who went to a protest with his adult militia buddies armed with an AR and then killed 2 protesters before maiming another. He got off scot free because the entire court case was biased in his favor and the prosecution was actively making themselves look stupid. I think it’s related to this because he went there looking for trouble, had an alibi ready, and pretended to be shocked when he ended up killing people.

Is he hoping to get a Hallmark movie deal with that sob story? He left his family to go and join in a war that doesn’t involve him in any way out of empathy? Get the fuck out of here.

It’s like Kyle Rittenhouse on a massive scale. They showed up to wave guns around and kill Russians and then act outraged that Kyiv expected them to actually behave like soldiers.

These guys are fucking psychopaths. They spent all that money and made that journey to go fight in a war that has nothing to do with them, and then are shocked that things aren’t exactly like Call of Duty where they just walk in and save the day.

It’s especially interesting to see people who consider themselves to be anti-fascists support Ukraine, which is being run by fascists, and then get mad when you tell them this. It’s like reality is being overwritten before our eyes. We’re even seeing people downplay the formerly understood concept of MAD because they want America to attack Russia so badly.

Meanwhile inflation is at an all time high, the climate’s getting worse, and Joe Biden is one of the least popular presidents in US history. And when it isn’t Russia, we’re still talking about Jan 6th, which I’m starting to think was indeed an inside job on some level because it keeps coming up despite nothing actually being done.

US media is covering this war with the same focus and intensity as if America was the one being invaded
If you didn't know any better, you'd think we were actively in a shooting war with Russia instead of just sending billions of dollars to the opposition. What a fantastic distraction tactic from the tidal waves of domestic problems we're facing here.
