They said, because they got the Google Cloud Push Message stuff and F-Droid devs won’t let them publish there. Once they got the redesigned new application, they promised, it will be on F-Droid.
Two years ago they said it was going to be ready by the end of that year, but there has been no news since then (afaik). My personal guess is that they’re waiting to finish the rewrite of the app, and don’t want to spend resources on the current version besides bugfixies
Yes the engineers team updated with a long blog post on the development situation and explained that they had to “will also need to rewrite these apps to retire their technical debt”.
Hopefully the new Android version will be released this year but they never mentioned F-Droid

I hope this is the case.
Protonmail seems to eventually deliver, but is working at a glacial pace where it matters when it comes to their privacy claims.
That’s why I changed to another provider, they claim to be private but they are developing other features like VPN, calendar and more instead making a app that works without google push like tutanota has. Not that hard to make, they just didn’t made it ungoogled. I don’t trust them.
I didn’t realise this. I must have installed it via Aurora?
I think there’s a direct apk. That’s where I got it
While it may not be in the official F-Droid repo, it certainly is in the IzzyOnDroid repo.
Izzydroid repo. There since months.
