Exactly right, the internet was always meant to be a decentralized. Fediverse is paving the way back towards the original vision. One problem with the original vision was lack of discoverability, and I think that’s what gave rise to centralized platforms. People could go to one site and get all the content in one place without having to hunt around. ActivityPub provides an alternative solution by allowing different sites to link up with each other providing us with the best of both worlds.
That’a why fediverse exists. Use Mastodon and Lemmy, not the centralized platforms like Twitter.
