just saying that sometimes solutions are unfortunately more nuanced than just throwing more money for public services.

Either you pony up the resources to help people or you deal with seeing them shit in the streets or making public restrooms ‘filthy’. Even for the ones you do reach, there will be some who are not willing to change their behavior, which means you get to decide as a member of society how much it’s worth to have public restrooms clean - is it worth employing more staff to clean these restrooms more often (or hopefully, more robust infrastructure that can self-clean or can be cleaned by robots or is more resistant to becoming ‘filthy’). Unfortunately there isn’t some magic pill that solves everything for free. Fortunately there are an absurd amount of resources in the world, and this is absolutely something that can be solved.

Pretty much any audio editing or production software will have it. Audacity is a common free one, and it has a high pass filter.

Thank you for the clarification, it was hard to understand when all I had to go on was ‘most people dont do it because they dont care’. It felt like you were simply dismissing others as lazy for having a different experience in life than yours, but now I understand you meant to refer to your own experience helping others install an OS.

Depends on the learning disability, really. For your example, some people may learn or understand knowledge much better when it is visual instead of auditory or vice versa.

What if they did read the manual and they are still struggling? Have you ever been out of your depth on a subject without the necessary skills to understand? Do you suffer from any learning disabilities?

How do you think someone who’s been struggling to install Linux (or any other OS) might feel coming across a comment like this? What about someone who hasn’t had access to computers until very recently?

As an aside, this question was prompted because we noticed someone had registered to our instance with the name of “hitlerschild” and posted, through federation, to the post “Do you read books?” posted on asklemmy@lemmy.ml.

Given this is a potential abuse vector, it might be wise to also globally restrict federated posting on new accounts from any instance for some period of time such as 24-72 hours.
