Scientists from SR Portugal joined activists from Climaximo PT to interrupt a speech by the Portuguese Minister for the Environment, Duarte Cordeiro, at a greenwashing event organised by fossil fuel company Galpenergia attended by many government members. The scientists were quickly removed by security and police under the Minister's smiling gaze. After the protesters were removed, the Minister appealed for 'decency'. While Portugal keeps pretending to be a world leader in energy transition and renewable energies, the government plots in coalition with fossil companies to expand fossil extraction in Mozambique, and to bring gas into Europe through the Port of Sines. Fossil fuel expansion is not transitioning. Fossil fuel expansion is not 'decent'. The science is absolutely clear. We must end fossil dependency now!
