Update

  • Seems I overlooked the link, describes a new trick or injection to inject bogus commits. Sucks because GitHub will not fix it only thing you can do is check the Commit ID or review the commit history manually.

Thanks, that sucks. Will report it to GitHub but it looks like a feature.

Sucks that this is even possible, but apparently GitHub will not fix it.

If you click on the commit, there is a reasonable warning message

You’d think they add it to the tree view too =/

There is a link at the bottom that explains everything.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
