I use Owncloud, hosted on one of my webservers, to ditch gmail as my last google service a couple of months ago. With the contacts/calendar add ons you can easily sync your data via CardDAV and CalDAV.
Very easy with CardDAV. Sign up for a Nextcloud account, install DavX5 on your phone, and setup CardDAV sync on your PC in Thunderbird/Gnome/etc. You can also use Etesync if you want more security, although it definitely is more challenging to use.
Could be worth starting by installing DavX5 and follow the prompts to check out the options… I use Baikal with DavX5: https://sabre.io/baikal/
