I always laugh loosely when the ultra-right uses Russia as an example to discredit politicians on the left. Putin is known to be on the far right, with like-minded friends in the EU, for example with LePen and similar exemplars. His anti-communist, homophobic and xenophobic and profoundly sexist speeches are well known, so this speech is no surprise.
Indeed. Which is why it’s a bit bizarre why the left tends to defend Russia. Well, at least they did before this most recent blunder.
At least in Spain, none of the left and communist partyies defends Rusia, but some of the right wings do so. Leftis generally are anti-OTAN, anti capitalists and pro civil rights, democrats and pacifists, far away from the ideolgy of Putin. Rusia currently has a extreme right wing policy with Putin, Nothing to do with the old URSS.
