Because right now, the Fediverse isn’t actually about connecting people, it’s about building walls around communities. People want to have their own space without dealing with trolls and content they don’t want to see and/or share.
I’d say this is the price to pay for freedom. It shouldn’t be like this, but it is as of right now.
