Red And Anarchist Black Metal - Lemmy

The idea of this community is to share black metal bands (can be also from other extreme genres) related with the radical left. ## Rules - Be civil - By preference, try to recommend bands that are part of the movement. One good place to find these is the Antifascist Black Metal Network on YT. - If you need to accuse a band of something, provide a factual proof of it. Avoid unnecessary drama by just saying “X did something bad” without really providing anything to corroborate.

RABM means Red and Anarchist Black Metal, but it is not only related to it, but also can include crust and dungeon synth.

he idea of this community is to present some of the radical left-wing extreme bands available.

I hope you can enjoy this community and contribute with it.

By the way, sorry if you see too many posts from there. I’m trying to post some of the known bands that come to mind. Hope it is not an issue.

Is this connected to the nazi metal scene?

I am curious, since I hear metal myself and I know some nazis creating anti-fascist bands and forums. I am concerned that is why I am asking because nazis often claim to be left to avoid getting taken down.

Hope you can explain me the origin of this because I never heard of it. THX.

Much to the contrary, see it as a counter-movement to that scene. Most of the bands associated with the RABM scene are fed up with the perception that Black Metal is a genre where only shitty people prevail. You will see more anarchists composing the scene though, but the main idea is standing against racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. It is not a huge movement, but this is why it is needed to bring visibility and support to these bands, mostly because they also support causes related to fights against corporations, injustice and so on.

There is a RABM community on Reddit that definitely contains more info about this, and some of the members have even engaged into investigating more about most of the bands and even creating lists pointing to sketchy stuff. Besides that, another place I use as a reference to find this band is the Antifascist Black Metal Network on YouTube. The person in charge of it is very strict on posting bands there.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks for your fast answer and detailed insight. Will check out the mentioned community, maybe you can put the link into the sidebar as reference.

Metal is so huge and has so many sub-genres, it is really hard even for me to see trough all of it.

PS

Welcome. 🙏

Thank you! :)

Here is the RABM subreddit and the Antifascist Black Metal Network channel on YouTube

EDIT: FYI, checking the subreddit, it seems it is imploding with the whole “I can listen to fash stuff as long as I don’t support it” mentality regarding a certain mod and its supporters. Still the recommendations there are the good ones, just avoid the chaos on the comments (as usual).
