I wonder why Amazon charges $20 a month to let you store video and audio locally?

Are they making that $20 a month another way when they store it in the cloud?

This is so fucked

You are a disgusting man and will never even remotely pass as a women

Fuckin’ nerd lol

We need to breed some Harry Potter “mandrake root” and plant them near all doorbell cameras. Give Amazon hours and hours of screeching. I wonder how long before a camera owner is sued?

In the US? Never. Because they have that BS “you don’t need consent to record someone in public” thing. IIRC they so nicely put it as that you have no “reasonable expectation of privacy” when you’re outside. It’s why “prank” videos on random strangers outside are legal, or those obnoxious Instagram vloggers you can’t stand being around, and let’s not forget that Tesla that just passed you recording you and sending it straight to Elon Musk. So if your voice is transmitted to the outside, you know, because you foolishly didn’t decide to live in the vacuum of space, most likely it’s fair game.

Two party consent? Idk, I don’t really like the idea of it. What if the recorded party abuses the system to discard recorded evidence?

This is why I have to be careful about what I say when I arrive at a certain relative’s house.

Depressing stuff. Many homes on my block have video doorbells. I knew that my walks down the block are video recorded, but I didn’t even consider the audio component. Hell, my neighbor’s doorbell camera has not only recorded every time I’ve headed out the door, but also every conversation I’ve had with my partner on the way out.

@AgreeableLandscape With every year, we’re one step closer to total surveilance. SCIF’s will be considered Free speech zones in the future. What a mess.

Why not have a temporary mount for EMP on your car, and use it on such equipment? After all, spying is illegal, so that should give people immunity.
